Baby born to brain-dead woman kept alive on life support in Czech Republic

Miracles do happen every day.

Proof of that was a baby girl who was born on Tuesday to a brain-dead woman who has since been life support for nearly three months.

The 27-year-old woman, who was 34 weeks pregnant at the time, was kept alive at The University Hospital Brno in Czech Republic before the baby was born by Cesarean section as per a report from Daily Mail.

The mother of the baby was declared brain-dead in early June after she suffered a brain hemorrhage few weeks into her pregnancy.

No details about the baby’s health were provided in the hospital statement. But a Czech public television said the girl, born earlier this month, is now with her father.

The hospital said doctors kept the mother alive on mechanical support until the baby was developed enough to be delivered.

This is also not the first time that such a similar case happened.

Former international athlete Catarina Sequeira gave birth to son Salvador after she was declared dead for three months following an acute asthma attack at home.

A ventilator attached to Sequeira provided oxygen to her baby and was able to survive. He was born 32 weeks after.

Another baby called Lourenço Salvador Faria was also born in Lisbon Portugal. He was 15 weeks in his dead mother’s womb.
