A man from another Gulf country went into a mobile phone shop in Fujairah and chose the three most expensive handsets.
The unnamed man then told the owner he wants to show the smart phones to his wife in the car outside so she will select one on the grounds he does not want her to come into the shop.
“The owner agreed and the Gulf man went out with the three phones… after the owner found that the man was late, he went after him,” Emarat Al Youm daily said.
“But he found that the car was not there and quickly realized that he had been deceived… he immediately phoned the police who managed to catch the thief.”
In the court on Tuesday, the Gulf man told the judge that he did not steal the handsets and that he agreed with the owner to pay for them in installments.
The judge decided to adjourn hearings for more witnesses, the paper said.
