A woman in Abu Dhabi facing trial at the Abu Dhabi Appeals Court admitted to the drug chargers hurdled against her.
The 24-year-old woman admitted consuming drugs due to psychological problems. The woman said that she used drugs after the death of her mother last year in order to cope with ‘stress’.
The Abu Dhabi Criminal Court of First Instance sentenced her to an unspecified number of years in imprisonment after she was found guilty of using drugs.
The woman, however, is challenging the decision and appealed for a lighter sentence.
A tribunal has requested to electronic tagging rather than putting the woman in jail.
