Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, announced that drivers who have clean records will be eligible for discounts on traffic fines or may be exempted from paying fines of minor offenses, reported Emarat Al Youm newspaper.
The criteria for minor offenses were not identified but the report describe it as “violations that do not post risks to other motorists”.
This initiative was rolled out to encourage motorists to always follow traffic rules.
Earlier this year, they have launched discounts on traffic fines for those who have been driving carefully in Dubai.
Here are the discount rates:
1. Clean record for three months – 25 percent discount
2. Clean record for six months – 50 percent discount
3. Clean record for nine months – 75 percent discount
4. Clean record for 12 months – 100 percent discount
