The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) has clarified that convicted murderer and rapist, former Calauan, Laguna Mayor Antonio Sanchez may not be eligible for an early release from New Bilibid Prison.
BuCor chief Nicanor Faeldon said Sanchez’ ineligibility may be based on the following grounds: Php1.5 million worth of illegal drugs in 2010. Discovery of flat screen TV and air conditioning unit in 2015.
Sanchez was charged guilty and sentenced to 7 counts of life imprisonment in 1995 for the rape/slay of Eileen Sarmenta and murder of Allan Gomez – students at UP Los Banos .
Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra previously said that Sanchez could be released from prison due to a 2013 law increasing good conduct time allowance.
