At least 21 foreign recruitment agencies and direct employers were blacklisted from recruiting Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs)
This, after some violations committed by the said agencies, according to POEA.
GMA News reported that most of these foreign agencies accept household service workers in the Middle East.
Aside from that, 19 Philippine recruitment agencies’ license have been cancelled.
Philippine Overseas Employment Administration administrator Bernard Olalia said these agencies have already an agreed employment contract approved by the POEA and have agreed with the minimum labor standards, but when the worker have already been to the country destination, the agencies set new employment contract
“May particular type of work na pinirmahan sa employment contact pero pagdating doon sa destination country, iba ýung binigay na trabaho” Olalia said.
The suspended agencies made an appeal before the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), thus the agency is still looking if the agencies will still be allowed to operate.
POEA has reminded those who want to work abroad to make sure their agencies are legit and following the guidelines set.
Applicants are also encourage to seek before the POEA if the agency is legitimate.
