A Dubai court sentenced an Asian visitor to 7 years in prison after he was convicted of smuggling drugs into the emirate by concealing them inside his belly.

The man managed to beat security at Dubai’s airport but was caught after he collapsed near a building, prompting the watchman to call the police.

Examination at the hospital showed the unnamed man had concealed 17 capsules of Amphetamine (nearly 181 gm) inside his belly.

He told police investigators that he was given the drugs by a man in his home country to deliver it to a supplier in Dubai in return for $1,500.

The Arabic language daily Emarat Al Youm said the court also fined the man Dh50,000 and ordered his deportation from the UAE.
