Thousands of Hajj pilgrims back in Emirates

Thousands of Hajj pilgrims from the United Arab Emirates have started coming back home on Thursday.

More than 2 million pilgrims were gathered in the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia last week to perform initial rites of the hajj.

Hajj pilgrimage is one of the pillars of Islamic faith.

The journey is made of five or six days of prayer takes the faithful along a path traversed by the Prophet Muhammad some 1,400 years ago.

Hajj takes place each year during Dhul Hijjah, the last month of the Islamic calendar.

At least four Filipinos died during this year’s pilgrimage due to extreme weather condition.
