Detached coping beam caused heavy traffic at Balintawak section on Sunday morning

A coping beam that detached from its hook during installation for the Skyway Stage 3 project of San Miguel-led Citra Central Expressway Corporation caused heavy traffic at Balintawak section on Sunday morning.

According to a post by NLEX Corporation on its Facebook page, it said: “the incident caused the flow of traffic to slow down at Balintawak/Camachile area,”.

“Skyway and NLEX traffic and safety teams are on-site to manage the traffic situation and ensure motorists’ safety. Close coordination with Skyway management and contractor for the ongoing retrieval of the said coping beam,” read the statement.

As of 11:50 a.m., NLEX Corporation said it has retrieved the coping beam and that two lanes of the Balintawak section and Camachile area is now passable.

As of 1:40 p.m., the three lanes were passable with slow moving traffic.

This project, set for completion by the first quarter of 2020, will connect NLEX with the South Luzon Expressway.
