A couple in Barangay Kauswagan, Cagayan de Oro City was arrested after they buried the dead body of their nine-month-old child in their backyard.
The father told the police that their youngest son had fever last July 17 and died the next day.
He told police they were not able to seek help for the child’s proper burial due to the many problems hounding them.
He complained that they don’t have money and food to eat.
A stench led to the discovery that the couple’s son was buried in their backyard.
Police said the couple violated the Presidential Decree 856 or the Code on Sanitation.
According to the law, human remains should be buried in cemetery and not just anywhere as it can pose hazard to people.
Police said the child’s body will be autopsied to find out if the there was no foul play in the child’s death.
There were reports that the father would beat up her children whenever he gets drunk, according to the police.
