President Rodrigo Duterte signs law declaring November 17 as National Student’s Day

To acknowledge the contribution of student activism in Philippine democracy, November 17 has been declared as National Student’s Day.

President Rodrigo Duterte penned the Republic Act (RA) 11360 in support of the International Student’s Day.

“In accord with the observance of International Students’ Day, and in recognition of the invaluable contribution of student activism to Philippine democracy for initiating efforts to foster leadership among Filipino students, November 17 of every year is hereby declared as National Students’ Day,” the law reads.

President Duterte signed the law on August 8, as per Yahoo News.

The National Youth Commission (NYC) has been tasked to spearhead the implementation of the programs and activities in observance of the National Student’s Day.

The Department of Education and the Commission on Higher Education is tasked also to support the NYC in promoting related activities in all public and private schools in the country.
