An old Asian Muslim pilgrim captured the attention of other pilgrims when he screamed and jumped as he stoned the devil during the annual Hajj in Saudi Arabia.
A Saudi pilgrim said he filmed the Asian with his mobile phone after he noticed the pilgrim overreacted in the devil-stoning ritual.
Sada newspaper said the Asian was screaming “Allahu Akbar” (God is Great) with every stone he hurled at the presumed devil site.
It quoted the man who filmed him as saying: “This Asian pilgrim was throwing stones as if he sees the devil standing before him… the way he hurled stones and screamed evoked an emotional response.”
Moslem pilgrims throw stones at the devil as a symbol of fighting evil during the annual Hajj, which also includes Tawaf (going round Kaaba) and standing on Mount Arafat in the Western town of Makkah.
