DOT records 4.1M int’l tourist arrivals in H1 2019

The Tourism Department reported that they have recorded 4,133,050 tourist arrivals from January to June 2019.

This is 11.43% higher compared to the previous year.

“South Korea continues to be the top source market with China coming in second. The United States ranks third followed by Japan and then Taiwan, winding up the top 5 source markets,” Tourism Secretary Berna Romulo-Puyat revealed.

The DOT also welcomed the move of the US Homeland Security to lift its notice on travelling to the Philippines because of airport safety issues.

“With the recent development of the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to rescind its Public Advisory on security issues at NAIA, we can expect more travelers from the US to visit the Philippines in the coming months,” Puyat said.
