UAE envoy celebrates Eid’l Adha in Marawi City for the first time

UAE Ambassador to the Philippines H.E. Hamad Saeed Al Zaabi has decided to celebrate Eid Al Adha or the ‘Feast of Sacrifice’ in Marawi City.

According to ABS CBN News, Al Zaabi on Sunday led the distribution of cow meat to family living in Sagonsongan.

Marawi City experienced a five-month long siege by ISIS-inspired fighters Maute group in May 2017.

The ambassador added that this is just the beginning of more projects to be launced by UAE in Marawi City.

Marawi projects will include rehabilitation, construction of a child and youth center, and a home for the orphans.

Al Zaabi also paid visits to mosques inside the main affected area of the war torn city, including the Grand Mosque and Bato Mosque.

Last month, he personally handed over the Hajj sponsorship given by the Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation to three Filipinos.
