Duterte open to the return and use of Dengvaxia

President Rodrigo Duterte has expressed his openness to bring back Dengvaxia to the market if it will be proven effective to solve the country’s dengue problem.

This week, the Health Department announced a ‘National Dengue Epidemic’ alert due to the rising cases of the disease. More than 600 individuals have died and almost 150,000 cases were recorded.

“Yes, I am open to the use of Dengvaxia again. Maraming patayan, it is an epidemic,” Duterte said.

The Chief Excutive said that he would rather listen to the experts when it comes to the vaccines.

“I’d rather go on the side of science. If nobody would believe me, still I would say that if there’s anything there, in the Western medicine and even itong mga herbal ng oriental, if it means saving people’s lives, I’ll go for it,” Duterte added.

The President clarified that he will listen first to experts before giving the go signal to bring back dengvaxia.

“I want to hear the words of the experts, doctors, we have enough bright people to tell us. I don’t need foreigners telling me. My own Filipino scientists and doctors would tell me what to do,” he added
