SCOOTERS may be more visible in the streets of Abu Dhabi soon as ride-share company Careem has started negotiating with transport authorities for the launching of e-scooter rentals.
Careem, which has recently bought bike company Cyacle, believes that the scooters could be the future of “micro-mobility.”
In a report by The National, Bassel Al Nahlaoui, managing director of Careem in the Gulf, said the transportation network company has been interested in the micro-mobility space for a very long time.
Al Nahlaoui said more details will be revealed soon as talks with the Department of Transport are in progress.
The report added that Circ, another e-scooter company, has started setting up e-scooters for rent in coordination with the city’s transport department.
