The UAE has declared August 11, Sunday, as the first day of Eid Al Adha. Today, August 2, was announced as the beginning of the month of Zul Hijjah for the year 1440 AH.
The confirmation of the Dhu Al Hijjah moon sighting was announced by the kingdom Saudi Arabia on Thursday night.
On Wednesday, the Saudi Supreme Court called on Muslims to report sightings of the crescent moon.
The Day of Arafat, the climax of the annual Hajj pilgrimage, will be on August 10. At dawn of this day, Muslim pilgrims travel to a nearby hillside and plain called Mount Arafah and the Plain of Arafah, the sites where Prophet Muhammad gave one of his last famous sermons in the final year of his life.
