The high cost of delivery is turning off online shoppers in Asia Pacific, a study revealed.
The United Parcel Service, Inc. (UPS) through the “UPS Pulse of the Online Shopper” surveyed 18,000 consumers worldwide and found that 39% of online shoppers in the Asia Pacific cancelled their orders after discovering that the cost of delivery was too high.
The survey covered the December 2018 to January 2019 period.
In the study, 47% of shoppers are willing to opt for a slower alternative while 39% are willing to receive incentives for slower shipping.
The incentives may include credit in the consumers’ account with the retailer.
The study added that 37% are willing to delay shipping to have a consolidated multiple items in one delivery.
The study also showed that Asian shoppers opt for online shopping because of expectations that items sold online are cheaper.
Sixty-percent of online shoppers in Asia Pacific are particular with the retailer’s returns policy. Also, 42% of consumers in Asia Pacific examine the retailer’s returns policy before purchasing.
