Dubai Police clarified rumors that a Saudi visitor who violated speeding rules was not fined.
This, after a message of the police force that was 10 years ago circulated online.
“Dear motorist, Dubai Police welcome you as a guest and visitor of Dubai, and wish you a fruitful stay. We are sorry to tell you that a traffic radar has detected you speeding, and although, it is a violation of traffic law, we won’t issue a ticket to you, because we wish your safety, not to fine you,” the message, which is in Arabic, reads.
Colonel Faisal Issa Al Qassim, Director of the Dubai Police security media department, refuted the information, saying this was part of an initiative a decade ago.
In a report by 24.ae, Colonel Al Qassim called on the media not to publish unverified infomation.
“All initiatives launched by the General Command of Dubai Police are broadcast through its official social networking sites accounts and the website,” Colonel Al Qassim was quoted as saying in the report.
