Filipino boxing legend and Senator Manny ‘Pacman’ Pacquiao attended an early morning flag ceremony at the Bonifacio Monument and made reference to Manila Mayor Isko Moreno to extending his public service “beyond” the confines of Manila local politics
Pacquiao made the visit right fresh from his victory last week against American boxer Keith Thurman. Moreno congratulated Pacman for bringing another honor to the country.
The boxing champ and legistator praised Moreno for his good works and indicated that he can go far in terms of his political career.
“Malayo pa ang mararating mo, baka hindi lang sa Maynila ang iyong seserbisyuhan,” Pacquiao said.
Pacquiao and Moreno both raised each other’s hand.
Moreno has gained popularity due to his clean up efforts in Manila. He has earned praises from different leaders and even received words of encouragement to run for a higher post.
Moreno ran in 2016 senatorial race but lost at 15th place.
Moreno said Pacquiao is the adopted son of Manila.
“Tulad ng aking mga kapwa Batang Maynila, si Pacman ay galing sa hirap at nagsumikap sa maraming aspeto ng buhay, mapa-pulitikal man o sa larangan ng boksing,” Moreno said in a statement.
