TESDA awards 1st Accredited training center in caregiving, EIM courses outside the Philippines

For the very first time, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) through Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) Dubai awarded the first Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Certificate of Program and Training Registration (CPTR) overseas for Caregiving NCII, and Electrical Installation and Maintenance NCII programs offered by a technical training center in Dubai, UAE.

Power Technical Training Center is the first recipient of the Overseas TVET Program registration (COPTR) outside the Philippines.

Atty. Felicitas Bay, Labor Attache expressed her happiness on this new achievement necessary for Filipinos.

“The center is already a TESDA-accredited training center overseas on the two programs. This is a milestone…because this is the first training center accredited by TESDA overseas. We have double-checked that with our TESDA main office,” Atty. Bay said.

“The OFWs are assured that the course they will enroll or have enrolled is in accordance with TESDA standards,” she said.

Engineer Jim Mahan, CEO of Power Technical Training Center said “napakasaya po namin…ito po ay achievement hindi lang po namin kundi ng ating mga kababayan at ng POLO Dubai.”

According to Juan Paolo Arao, Technical Education Adviser and Certified TESDA Assessor, the school must first be inspected and accredited before it can offer any TESDA programs. Should a school wants to offer a TESDA program, it must meet the TESDA requirements.

“After rigorous preparation and document compliance, POWER Technical Training Center is now officially the first and only TESDA-Accredited Training School in United Arab Emirates for Caregiving NCII and Electrical Installation and Maintenance NCII,” Arao said.

This is the second organization that Mr. Arao helped in getting their TESDA Accreditation. The first one was in Abu Dhabi as TESDA Accredited Assessment Center and the second one is POWER Technical Training Center as TESDA-Accredited Training School.

He also encourages all training schools in Dubai to secure TESDA Accreditation before conducting any TESDA training programs since there are strict training regulations to be followed and complied.

“This is to ensure students are getting quality training as per the prescribed Philippine Qualifications Framework which is the national policy that describes the level of educational qualifications and sets standards for qualification outcomes,” he added.

“One TESDA- accredited training school in Dubai is not enough to cater the training needs of more than 700,000 Filipino community. It needs more TESDA-accredited training schools,” he explained.

This said training center is the first training program offering the said programs to be accredited overseas not only in the UAE, but also in the world.
