Sharjah among most creative cities in the world

Sharjah has emerged as one of the most creative cities in the world, according to a list released by British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).

In a report, BBC said Sharjah has long been overshadowed by Dubai and Abu Dhabi. But since the city has a creative and progressive leader, it is now getting the attention it deserves.

The family of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has a penchant for the arts the city is also doing things differently.

“The city is creating a reputation as the place in the UAE for creativity,” the BBC report said.

Sharjah’s cultural calendar is also filled with activities.

Sharjah Biennial for contemporary arts, a newly launched graphic-design biennial, and the Islamic Arts Festival are some of the events happening in Sharjah.

The Sharjah Art Foundation became a hub for artists both local and foreign artists.

The Rain Room is also one of most instagrammable work in Sharjah. There’s likewise a newly opened bookshop that caters to the creative community.

The Sharjah museum is also a place to visit in the city.

Sharjah has been listed as among the five best places for the arts together with Mexico City, Belgrade, Dakar and Bangkok.
