The Foreign Affairs Department issued a warning to the Filipino community in Iraq to stay on alert and vigilant after a violent terrorist attack killing three people.
“The Embassy [in Baghdad] is asking members of the Filipino community in the region, as well as those traveling there, to keep a vigilant watch on potential threats to their security, keep a low profile and avoid participating in public demonstrations,” the DFA said in a statement.
A Turkish diplomat was shot dead last week. Two people were also killed. No group is claiming the responsibility on the killings as of this posting but some experts believe that it could be the Turkish separatist Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).
Turkey considers PKK a terrorist group. The PKK is classified as a “terrorist” group by Turkey, the United States and the European Union.
The separatist group has long been waging a war to the Turkish state for three decades.
