Supreme Court junks VP Robredo’s motion to dismiss Marcos’ protest

The Supreme Court, sitting as the Presidential Electoral Tribunal has junked the petition of Vice President Leni Robredo seeking to dismiss the electoral protect of losing candidate Bongbong Marcos.

The Supreme Court said that it is still too early to dismiss Marcos’ petition and junks Robredo’s urgent motion due to prematurity.

In a resolution released by the SC on Thursday, the tribunal junked Robredo’s motion because the revision and recount of the votes has not yet been completed.

The decision states that the ‘proceedings following Rule 65 of the 2010 PET Rules, which entail judicial recount, revision, and appreciation of the votes cast in the protestant’s pilot provinces have yet to be completed and released.’

“This premise is fundamentally flawed as the Tribunal is still in the process of appreciation of the revised ballot and ruling on the respective objections and claims made by the parties thereon. Its final tally of votes after recount and appreciation has yet to be completed and released,” the tribunal explained.

The Marcos camp welcomed the tribunal’s decision.
