With barely four months left on preparations for the hosting of the SEA Games, organizers appear to be facing a challenging period as the fate of the Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee (Phisgoc) will depend on the outcome of their meeting in Malacanang today, Thursday.
According to a report from Inquirer.net, a government source said there’s no transition plan yet.
On Monday, President Rodrigo Duterte pushed out Phisgoc in the SEA Games organization, saying the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) should handle the preparations.
PSC Chair Butch Ramirez said the meeting would be “an important guidance” for them.
Joining Ramirez in the meeting will be Executive Sec. Salvador Medialdea, and Phisgoc officials Taguig Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano and chief operating officer Ramon Suzara.
Duterte hinted that the change in leadership was triggered by an alleged corruption.
The SEA games have a working budget of P6 billion.
