PNP cracks down on ‘unfaithful’ cops

The Philippine National Police (PNP) is now tracking down uniformed personnel who are ‘unfaithful’ spouses because of their failure to support their families.

The PNP Women and Children Protection Center received 301 complaints of economic abuse in 2018. The report is a 40 percent jump from last year.

The police said that this may be due to the increase in salary for uniformed personnel.

Low-ranking officials received a 100 percent increase hiking their salaries to P29, 668 from previous P14, 834 monthly.

The PNP in response to the increase in the number of unfaithful partners now launch its own internal cleansing program called ‘squad concept’.

Small groups will be formed by at least six people led by the religious sector representatives.

The new program was launched in Metro Manila and hopes to duplicate it in the region.
