Panelo to Amal Clooney: Naghahanap lang sila ng katapat ko

Presidential Spokesperson and Chief Presidential Counsel Sal Panelo said he is excited to debate with international human rights lawyer Amal Clooney, who will be part of Rappler CEO Maria Ressa’s legal team.

Ressa is facing cyberlibel and tax evasion cases. Clooney will be leading Ressa’s international legal team who will closely work and monitor with local counterparts on the case.

“Palagay ko naghahanap lang sila ng katapat ko. Kasi kapag kaming dalawa ang nagdedebate ni Maria, medyo kawawa naman kasi hindi naman siya abogado. Eh, kailangan may abogado din siya, maganda na, sexy pa,” Panelo said in a media briefing in Malacañang.

Panelo also said Clooney’s stand on Ressa does not reflect the entire international community on cases hurled at Ressa.

“No. I don’t think so. Baka nabola niya lang si Atty. Amal,” Panelo.

Panelo also called Clooney “misinformed” on Ressa’s pending cases.

“Misinformed kasi si Atty. Amal, eh. Siguro kapag nagkita kami, to use the word of the President, I can educate her,” Panelo explained. (Photo: politics.com.ph)
