PDEA starts research on medical marijuana

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) has started its research on the effects of medical marijuana.

PDEA Chief Aaron Aquino said that the research on medical marijuana use could be the basis for lawmakers when discussing about its proposed legalization, as per an interview with GMA News.

“This will be the basis ng ating mga mambabatas na in the future in case na ma-approve ito na magamit ang marijuana medically, magiging basis itong research and study na kino-conduct ng PDEA,” Aquino said.

The House of Representatives approved the bill legalizing medical marijuana use, but it did not move at the Senate last Congress.

President Rodrigo Duterte admitted that he is not keen in legalizing the medical use of marijuana.

“Not in my time. Some other president maybe. I do not intend to legalize it,” Duterte explained
