Expat violates traffic law, assaults policeman in UAE

Driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, reversing his car which rammed to a police patrol car – these are some of the charges filed at an expat in the United Arab Emirates.

The man is currently facing trial at an Abu Dhabi court.

Official documents showed that the accused drove in one of UAE’s major roads in the opposite direction, no plate number and under the influence of substances.

When a cop tried to apprehend him, he drove in a reverse direction ramming into the policeman’s car.

The man also assaulted the police official when he was being arrested.

The man denied the charges with his lawyers saying that there was no evidence to prove the assault.

The man’s lawyer said that the plate number had fell off because of rains. The defense has requested to drop the charges.

The trial is set on July 9.
