President Rodrigo Duterte criticized Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert Del Rosario for using his diplomatic passport during his ordeal in Hong Kong.
“You are no longer an employee. You have no business of using a government diplomatic passport,” Duterte said in a speech.
Del Rosario was barred from entering Hong Kong last June 21.
The Foreign Affairs Department has issued an order cancelling all ‘courtesy diplomatic passports.”
Del Rosario said that the order was illegal and it cannot supersede the Passport Act which says that former SFAs and Ambassadors can still use a diplomatic passport.
