Transportation Secretary Art Tugade revealed that the construction of Sangley Airport in Cavite is expected to be finished in September.
This is two months ahead of the deadline imposed by President Rodrigo Duterte to move all domestic flights from NAIA to Sangley.
Tugade said that the runway’s asphalt overlay is complete, buildings are almost done, drainage and hangars will be completed soon.
“Sa tingin niyo, ano deadline ko? September. Pinapa-advance September? I’m pushing to advance ,” Tugade said.
Five major Philippine airlines have signed a Pledge of Commitment with the Transportation Department to cooperate and help decongest Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
