The 49-year-old Overseas Filipina Worker (OFW) who plunged to her death in Morocco was a victim of human trafficking, according to Chargé d’Affaires Elmer Cato.
In a tweet, Cato said that the household worker was initially recruited to work in Dubai but ended up working in Morocco.
DFA has already informed the OFW’s husband about her death.
The woman was a mother of a three-year-old kid and a native of Isabela.
In another tweet, Cato said DFA is now reviewing all human trafficking cases.
“Philippine Embassy in Libya is reviewing cases of human trafficking involving several Filipino victims who ended up in Libya and Morocco for transmittal to DFA which will then endorse these to the Inter-agency Council Against Trafficking at the Department of Justice in Manila,” Cato said.
