The Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) on Tuesday said formal complaints have been filed against a couple who performed surgery on a dog.
The couple used a regular kitchen knife and a pair of scissors on a pregnant poodle and livestreamed the act on social media.
“By performing a surgical procedure themselves without being registered veterinary professionals and without using anesthesia, the Respondents not only maltreated and abused an animal by inflicting needless pain and causing its death, they also neglected to provide the animal…and the puppies they delivered…with the veterinary care demanded by the situation,” the PAWS’ complaint read.
Earlier reports state that the couple had to perform the surgery to save the lives of the litter of puppies that were still within the womb of the dead dog.
