Senator-elect Bato Dela Rosa won’t inhibit self from drug probe

Senator-elect Ronald Bato Dela Rosa will refuse to inhibit himself from future Senate probes on illegal drugs and extrajudicial killings.

Dela Rosa who was also a former head of the Philippine National Police (PNP) was the first implementor of the government’s war on drugs.

Government data showed that at least 6,000 people have died since the campaign started in 2016.

“Bakit ako mag-iinhibit? Ako ba ang pumatay? Hindi naman ako ang pumatay,” Dela Rosa told reporters.

“Do you think na kung hindi ako mag-inhibit, hindi lalabas ang katotohanan? If you thnik na hindi lalabas, so mag-inhibit ako. Iba ako ngayon, senador na. Senador na ko. Hindi na ako pulis,” Dela Rosa added.

Dela Rosa is poised to lead the Senate Committee on Public Order and Dangerous Drugs which was formerly held by Senator Ping Lacson.
