Cypriot serial killer of seven women, including 4 Pinays, gets seven life sentences

The suspect behind a series of killings in Cyprus would have to serve seven life sentences for killing seven women, including four Filipino nationals, Reuters reported.

Nicos Metaxas, 35, a Greek Cypriot army captain pleaded guilty to 12 charges relating to the premeditated murder and abduction of the women he met online.

Based on collated media reports, the victims have been identified as six-year-old Sierra, the daughter of the first victim — Marry Rose Tiburcio, Maricar Valdez, Arian Palanas Lozano, Romanian Livia Florentina Bunea and her eight-year-old daughter Elena.

There was also the case of an unnamed young Filipino woman who said the suspect raped her.

Reuters also reported that the sentence passed down by the Assizes (Criminal) Court is the toughest decision imposed by the Cypriot justice system.

The victims were mostly employed as housekeepers and disappeared between September 2016 and August 2018.
