3,600+ Abu Dhabi motorists fined for not following School Bus “Stop” Sign

Abu Dhabi Police has recorded 3,646 violations this year so far against motorists who didn’t totally stop their car when they saw the “stop” sign of a school bus. In the same vein, 126 violations were recorded against bus drivers who haven’t used the “stop” sign at all, whenever they had to pick up or drop off a student.

As part of the campaign “Traffic Safety for Students”, Abu Dhabi Police has stepped up awareness of safe transportation and stop signs, and disseminated “stop” sign posters in several languages through their social media accounts, urging people to comply with traffic law.

According to article (90) and (91) of traffic law, motorists shall be fined Dh 1,000 and 10 traffic points and bus drivers shall face a fine of Dh 500 and 6 traffic points respectively, ensuring traffic control which was the main focus of the aforementioned campaign.

The Abu Dhabi Police furthers that violators and all other drivers must obey the rules and take preventive precautions in order to assure the safety of students.
