Duterte signs law requiring free Internet, clean restrooms in terminals

President Rodrigo Duterte signs into law a bill requiring transport terminals, stations or Roll-On-Roll-Off (RO-RO) areas to have free Wi-Fi access, clean restrooms for men, women and persons with disabilities.

The bill was signed last April but made public this week.

The new law requires terminal restrooms with tissue paper, hand soap, and hand dryer.

Another provision requires terminal to have free Internet access and a breastfeeding area. The law also states that no fees should be collected on the use of restrooms.

If transport terminals do not comply with the requirements of the law, they will be fined Ph5,000 every day as long as the violation continues.

Senator Grace Poe authored the bill at the Senate.
