The local government of Isabela, City in Basilan is raising the alarm over 300 dog attacks in the city including one that killed a 5 year-old boy, Monday.
Isabela LGU is now calling for strict implementation of RA 9482 or the Anti-Rabies Act of 2007.
Local reports said that the child went outside of his house when at least 10 stray dogs attacked and bit him.
He was rushed to the hospital but later on died due to fatal injuries at a hospital in Zamboanga City.
“The news of a child being the latest of more than 300 victims injured by stray dogs in the city is truly alarming. As mayor-elect, this incident calls our attention to the urgency of the issue. During our barangay visits and consultations before the elections, some sectors have raised the problems caused by stray dogs particularly on the littering of garbage,” Isabela Mayor-elect Dadah Hataman said in a statement.
