Abu Dhabi Police posted a video about an incident that occurred to one of the social media users in order to spread awareness and show how dangerous it is to leave cars open.
They warned families from keeping their cars open in their villas or beside their home, to make sure that deadly incidents are avoided since children usually get into the car thinking that they would find something to play with, the thing that eventually leads to closing the car from inside and the children choking to death.
They stressed the need for continuous monitoring of young children, and not to forget or rely on others to look after their children when parking in various locations with high temperatures, to avoid accidents. Most accidents occur out of parents’ carelessness and unintentional negligence that may result in children being suffocated due to the heat of the atmosphere that produces carbon dioxide in the car, the police said.
They also urged parents to pay attention to the safety of their children, not to leave them in the car and go to buy things expecting nothing to happen since children are asleep and the car is completely closed and the air conditioner is operating, pointing out that some cases of fatal suffocation may occur when the children are being forgotten for long periods in vehicles.
