The Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi led the celebrations of the 121st Philippine Independence Day with a traditional flag ceremony held at the embassy grounds.

Ambassador Hjayceelyn Quintana read the message of President Duterte for all Filipinos with the hope that the dream of a truly independent Philippines will be achieved in their lifetime. “Let us commit ourselves to ensure that their sacrifices have not been in vain and that their dream of a truly independent Philippines, – whose people live freely in a secure, stable and prosperous society, – will be achieved in our lifetime,” read President Duterte’s message.

Consul Rowena Daquipil shared DFA Secretary Teodoro Locsin’s message that calls for Filipinos to live the spirit of Bayanihan and work together: “It is my hope that we – those in the foreign service, overseas Filipinos and each Filipino for that matter, will all continue to work together, with courage and compassion, to overcome our struggles, in order to uplift our families, to secure and better our communities, and to unite for the progress of our country.”
