Manila: Malacañang has confirmed on Tuesday that President Rodrigo Duterte has formalized his approval of the sale of Imelda Marcos’ jewelry collection.
“The OP has officially informed PCGG that it interposes no objections to the proposed activities relative to the disposal of the Marcos Jewelry Collections, subject to compliance w/ existing laws, rules and regulations,” Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea said in a message to reporters.
The communication has been sent to the office of Presidential Commission on Good Governance (PCGG) to allow the auction of the Marcos jewelry.
The collection, which could cost 45 million dollars, consists of less expensive pieces that the Marcoses left behind in 1986.
