Erwin Tulfo apologizes for outburst but won’t retract ‘walang silbi’ remark on DSWD sec

Manila: TV host Erwin Tulfo gets the ire of retired officials and soldiers after his outbursts against Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rolando Bautista on his show ‘Tutok Tulfo’.

“We condemn in the strongest terms the words, actions and degrading remarks of Erwin Tulfo against DSWD Secretary Rolando Bautista. Soldiers, active and retired, and honorary members will continue to stand by the Honorable Secretary,” the Philippine Military Academy Alumni Association said in a statement.

The alumni association also vouched for the former Commanding General of the Philippine Army and his role as ground commander in the Marawi siege.

In an interview with CNN Philippines, Tulfo has apologized  for his outburst. However, he insisted not to take back some of his remarks against Bautista.

“I ask for an apology sa excessive ranting, ‘yung sobrang pagmumura at galit ay medyo nasobrahan nga. Five minutes of ranting, I think that was too much… Pero ‘yung pagpupuna sa kanya na wala siyang ginagawa, na kailangan magtrabaho siya, it will stay. Hindi ko babawiin iyon, because wala sa lahi namin na binabawi ng commentaries namin about sa trabaho mo,” he said.

Tulfo slammed the retired general for allegedly ignoring his calls and demanded that as a public official Bautista’s line should be more open to those in need.

He added that he doesn’t care if Bautista is one of President Rodrigo Duterte’s men, threatening to dunk the DSWD chief’s head into the toilet for missing call.

“Sampalin kita pag nakita kitang [glaring] ka. Wala akong pakialam kung retired general ka. Ingudngud ko yung mukha mo sa inidoro,” Tulfo said.
