2 men killed, bodies burned

Two men were found dead, their bodies burned, in Bgy. Putat, Tuburan in northwest Cebu on Tuesday.

Lt. Col. Ismael Gauna, chief of the Tuburan Police said the victims were already 3 – 5 days dead because their remains were already in an advanced stage of decomposition.

Gauna said there were relatives who have come to their station on Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning claiming to be relatives of the deceased.

According to Gauna, the relatives identified them as a certain “Nico Baricar” of Bgy. Mambaling and a certain “John Paul Galon” of Bgy. Kalunasan in Cebu City.

The sibling of Baricar was able to identify him through a ring on his finger which has the name “Charrie” engraved on it. Baricar has a live-in partner named Charrie, it was learned.

The relative of Galon meantime was able to identify him through the jersey and brief that he was wearing.

Gauna said they have asked the relatives to proceed to their Crime Laboratory so that samples could be taken from them to match the DNA of the victims.

Tuburan Police could not yet identify any person of interests on the killing. What they are focusing on now, according to Gauna, is backtracking where these victims were last seen and who were eople they had last got in touch with.

The bodies after a concerned citizen reported the presence of the corpse.

A disposable lighter was found in the area where the bodies were found indicating that after the bodies were dumped, the burning happened.

One of the angles in the motives of the killing that Tuburan Police is looking at is that these men were salvage victims.

As of this writing, they are conducting a background check on the said victims.
