Woman posed as nurse to kidnap baby in Jeddah

A woman in Jaddah, Saudi Arabia has been arrested by authorities after she posed as a nurse to kidnap a newborn baby girl from a private hospital in the said city.

Abdul Rahman Farie, uncle of the baby named Noor, said that the baby was born in the morning of May 16 and was kidnapped at 10:00 PM the same day, reported Saudi Gazette.

Farie was unsure as to why the woman kidnapped his niece but predicted that the suspect might have been taking revenge on the private hospital in Al-Hamra district of Jeddah and not on their family.

After the baby was found missing, netizens started an online campaign to help authorities locate the baby and it immediately became a trending topic on social media.

Farie then said that after the overwhelming support they received online, they were able to find Noor in good health in a hospital in Al-Nahda neighborhood in north Jeddah with a paper attached to her clothes giving their phone number.

The uncle of the baby added that the social media campaign must have put pressure on the kidnapper so she must have decided to return the baby to the family.

It was later discovered that the suspect, who was a Saudi woman in her fifties, was able to kidnap the baby when she took the staff lift in a nurse uniform.

She took the baby from her mother after claiming that the doctors needed to examine her. She ran away with the girl and placed her inside a car.
