The Philippine Independence Day 2019 pre-events gather steam

The Philippine Independence Day 2019 pre-events continue as we draw near to the main celebration on June 14, 2019 at the Dubai World Trade Center.

Among the pre-events that happened was the medical mission held at the Philippine Consulate General in Al Qusais on May 3 from 12 to 4 PM. It was attended by hundred of Filipino participants who were able to avail of medical services including check ups on blood pressure, sugar and more.

A series of Iftar in different locations in the Northern Emirates were held in cooperation with the Filipino communities and its leaders. It was dubbed as Pagdulog: Ang Malayang Pakikiisa sa Pagdiriwang ng Buwan ng Ramadan.

The Iftar in Ajman was held on May 9, 2019 at Africana Restaurant and Grills which was attended by the Filipino Muslim community in Ajman. Omar, who was representing Filipino Community in Ajman mentioned that this is their first time experiencing non-Muslims serving them for Iftar which is a great feeling and a symbol of unity among the Filipinos in the UAE.

Another Iftar event happened in Umm Al Quwain on May 20, 2019 at China Mall. Together with the PID committee and volunteers and the Filipino community and leaders of UAQ, the occasion was graced by more than 50 Filipinos who expressed their gratitude in expreriencing this memorable event. And to make it more special, Consul General Paul Raymund Cortes and Dra. Yasmin Baladia-Cortes attended the event and opened the celebration.

Inday’s Day Out was another exciting pre-event. Filipino household workers were given a treat by having a tour of Dubai courtesy of Carlos Tourism. All together in one bus, they toured the city and visited different landmark. It was concluded by a sumptuous dinner in a FIlipino restaurant after the tour. Batch 1 had their tour on May 10 while Batch 2 on May 17. Two more batches will be scheduled to accomoadate more household workers for this event.
