Employer of OFW killed in Kuwait faces murder charges

Kuwaiti authorities have filed charges against the employer of Constancia Dayag, the overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who was killed in Kuwait.

According to a report on GMA News, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) received information from the the Kuwaiti General Prosecutor’s Office saying that Dayag’s employers have been charged with felony murder.

It is believed that the 47-year-old OFW, who worked as a maid in Kuwait, died in the hands of her employer identified as Bader Ibrahim Mohammad Hussain.

A week ago, it was reported that Dayag was found dead with a cucumber inside her private parts.

Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III earlier said that Dayag, a native of Agadanan, Isabela, died after sustaining various contusions and hematoma. Initial investigation showed that she was beaten and raped.

Dayag’s family also said they were not aware of the alleged abuse that the OFW was suffering from her employer since she would always claim that the bruises on her body was her own fault.

Her remains have already arrived home in the Philippines and her family members paid their last respects at her wake in her hometown.

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has conducted a re-autopsy on Dayag’s remains. Officials said revealing the real cause of Dayag’s death will take some time as the results of the autopsy will be available in four to five weeks.
