San Miguel offers to build multi-billion water source

Manila, Philippines– San Miguel Corp.’s (SMC) water unit is planning to submit a proposal to build a Php35-billion water source project.

The proposal is expected in the next two weeks, officials said.

San Miguel President and COO Ramon Ang said in an interview that the project will provide 3,800 million liters per day of water.

Should this proposal materialize, Filipinos will get cheaper water rates with only five pesos per cubic meter.

“I will submit an unsolicited proposal next week. I think, 3,000 MLD, private funding, mga Php35 billion yung project cost, five years to build, at mabebenta namin yung tubig na yan unsolicited offer to sell the water at Php5 per cubic meter lang kaya sobrang mura” Ang said.

The SMC president however refused to disclose the target location for the water source project.
