Philippine casinos on alert for fake US dollars

Casinos in the Philippines are on alert for fake US dollars following the arrest of three gamblers at Resorts World Manila casino who used fake banknotes to buy gaming chips worth US$5,500 or PHP288,000.

The gamblers are Chinese, South Korean and a former officer of Philippine National Police who was dismissed from service due to administrative violations.

They were arrested after a casino staffer noticed that the US$100 bills had the same serial number. They said the source of the fake money is South Korean James Park.

Major Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, director of the National Capital Region Police Office, said the police is looking for Park and investigating whether there are more fake banknotes that have circulated in the country.
