The Philippines will shoulder the cost of shipping back Canada’s garbage Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo said.
A private shipping was instructed to return the garbage to Canada.
“The Philippines will shoulder all expenses, and we do not mind,” Panelo said in press briefing on Wednesday.
“We are extremely disappointed with Canada’s neither-here-nor-there pronouncements on the matter. Obviously, Canada is not taking this issue nor our country seriously,” he added.
The Canadian government said it was not behind the exportation of garbage as the trash was sent to Manila via commercial transaction.
Canada also missed the May 15 deadline for it to ship back its trash, prompting the Philippines to recall its representatives in Canada, a move that may ruin diplomatic ties.
