LOOK: Sheikh Hamdan’s ‘sweet’ wedding invitation revealed

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, together with his two brothers, were married in a joint ceremony on Wednesday evening last week.

After the private ceremony, photos of the royal wedding invitation of HH Sheikh Hamdan circulated on social media and it was definitely something no one has seen before.

As seen in an Instagram post by Mama Noora, the royal family’s governess for decades, the wedding invitation is covered with gold details.

While most couples would usually send an envelope for their wedding invitation, HH Sheikh Hamdan and his brothers sent out a golden box with a sweet treat inside.

Inside the box was a dish filled with a local dessert called Omani Halwa. Omani Halwa is a soft, sweet gelatinous mixture that is flavored with saffron, cardamom, ghee, nuts and rose water.

Aside from the dessert, the details of the wedding ceremony were also written on the invitation with embroidered Arabic characters.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has earlier confirmed that his three sons got married.

Sheikh Hamdan, 36, was married to Sheikha Sheikha bint Saeed bin Thani Al Maktoum, while Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, 35, married Sheikha Maryam bint Butti Al Maktoum and Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed, Chairman of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation, 32, married Sheikha Midya bint Dalmouj Al Maktoum.
